Race numbers and timing chips can be picked up on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd in The 1798 Centre, Parnell Road, Enniscorthy. The centre is just off the N30 Enniscorthy to New Ross road just as you leave Enniscorthy and is signposted with brown tourist signs (see map) at the following times:-
Friday: 5pm – 7pm
Saturday: 2pm - 5pm
New entries can also be taken at these times.
On Sunday 24th number and chip pick up will be in The Riverside Park Hotel, The Promenade, Enniscorthy from 7am to 9am. (Please allow an adequate amount of time to pick up your chip/number as there will be queues.)
New entries can also be taken at these times.
There will be no parking in the vicinity of the hotel. Please park in the race car park (see map below) and jog/walk to registration. Allow 10 – 15 minutes.
Parking
The car park is in a field on the banks of the river opposite the Riverside Park Hotel. This can be accessed from the N11 on the Wexford side of Enniscorthy. The route to the car park will be signposted from all the main approach roads to the town.
Toilets
There will be toilets available on the promenade close to the start/finish area. There will also be a toilet just after the 8 mile mark on the half marathon route at Borodale.
Clothing Drop Off
As the car park is some 10 -15 minutes away from the start/finish we will be giving you a plastic bag when you pick up your race number. Please put a change of clothes in it and bring it with you to the start/finish area where you can deposit it in the bag drop off marquee. There will be supervision in the area but please do not put valuables in the bag as we will not take responsibility for lost items.
Warm up Area
Whereas the jog from the car park to the start may be a sufficient warm up for many of you, there is an excellent warm up area on a well surfaced walking track along the river just beyond the Riverside Park Hotel.
Start Time and Location
The half marathon and the walk start at 10am on the Promenade close to the Riverside Park Hotel. The 5 mile race starts from the same place at 11am.
Walkers are asked to line up behind the runners.
Slower runners are asked to position themselves in such a way as to not block faster runners. Remember you are being chip timed so your exact time from start line to finish line will be recorded.
The Half Marathon and 15K Walk
Distances along the route will be marked in both miles and kilometres on white signs. Please note that there will be a 1 mile and a 2 mile sign for the 5 mile race on your course but they will be coloured and will have “Five Mile Route written on them.
The first 2 km of the race are around the town. The route will be well stewarded and there will be a substantial Garda presence to ensure the safety of the athletes. Please obey the stewards directions at all times. You are asked not to wear ear phones. As the runners spread out please keep to the left hand side of the road.
Then it is out into the country. Please note that shortly after the 1st water station, at approx 5.5 km, the runners will be turning right but the walkers go straight on. There will be stewards there to direct you. (The 5 mile race turns left at this point).
Shortly after 15km (approx 9km for walkers) the route crosses the railway line. There will be a train coming through at 12.30pm but we expect everyone to be through this point by then. If by any chance the gate is down when you get there please wait for the train to pass!
Water Stations:- There will be 4 water stations on the half marathon course and three on the 15K walk.
Station 1: 5km.
Station 2: 11km. This is on the half marathon course only
Station 3: 16km. (This will be 10Km on the walk route)
Station 4: 19km. (13km on the walk)
The water will be in 250ml bottles. There will be a bin positioned 200metres beyond each water station. If it suits we would ask you to deposit your bottle in the bin.
The 5 Mile Race
Distances along the route will be marked in miles. The mile signs will be coloured and will state "Five Mile Route" to distinguish them from the half marathon mile signs.
The route will be well stewarded and there will be a substantial Garda presence to ensure the safety of the athletes. Please obey the stewards directions at all times. You are asked not to wear ear phones. As the runners spread out please keep to the left hand side of the road.
There will be one water station shortly after the 2 mile mark. The water will be in 250ml bottles. There will be a bin positioned 200 metres beyond the water station. If it suits we would ask you to deposit your bottle in the bin.
