The 43rd Wexford Strawberry Festival

The 43rd Strawberry Festival 2010 will be held on 25th-27th June 2010.

There are 2 stages - the main stage is in the Market Square and will host the main family entertainment over the weekend and the Templeshannon stage will host the more rock music. Open air entertainment is free. As well as the inaugural Strawberry Half Marathon the festival will also have many fringe events such as craft fair, photographic exhibition, teddy bears picnic, ice cream party etc...

Strawberries and cream will be on sale daily over the festival.

In 1967 a study group recommended the foundation of a summer festival based on an important local crop – strawberries, to promote the area as a tourist attraction. Thousands of visitors decended on the town from all over Ireland to enjoy the free outdoor entertainment and purchase the fruit – as much as twenty tons of strawberries were consumed during the Fair. Over the intervening years, local fruit farmers have seized the opportunity to bring the product to customers and share with the rest of Ireland our luscious emblem of summertime.

Each year the festival has witnessed a huge influx of visitors to enjoy the strawberries, sun and fun on an occasion that equals and perpetuates the great August gatherings at the “Fair of Inish Corr”. The Strawberry Festival will celebrate its 42nd year this June. Expect music, theatre, street entertainment, markets and many of the events traditionally associated with the festival. The fair is held at the end of June every year in Enniscorthy, a small picturesque town in the heart of Co. Wexford.
